Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Garren collects when you use the website at garren.si, the app at app.garren.si and every related service (together, the "Service"), how we use it and who helps us process it. "Garren", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the company that operates the Service. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@garren.si.
1. Summary
- We use your information to run the Service: to edit your videos, show you your projects, bill you and keep your account secure.
- Your footage is processed by our own servers and by a small number of specialised providers, for example for transcription and AI models. We do not sell your information, and we do not use your content to train AI models.
- How long we keep your files depends on your plan: the footage you upload stays for a while after your last change to a video (3 days for the free video, up to 90 days on Pro), your finished videos as long as you are on a plan. Reference videos are deleted right after the style analysis. Section 6 has the details.
- You can get a copy of your information or have it deleted at any time by writing to hello@garren.si.
- If you sign in with Google or connect your YouTube channel, section 12 explains exactly what we receive from Google, what we do with it and how you remove our access.
2. Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address and password (stored only as a salted hash), your plan and your account settings. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us the name, email address and account ID of your Google account; we never see your Google password.
Billing information. Your plan, billing period, purchases and payment status. Card details are entered directly with Whop, our payment partner; we do not receive or store payment card numbers.
Your content. The videos and audio you upload (including the faces and voices of everyone who appears in them), scripts, notes, reference videos and links, images you upload as examples, the chat messages you send to the editing assistant, and everything the Service produces from them: transcripts, edit plans and timelines, edited videos, captions, titles, descriptions, tags, chapters and thumbnails.
Channel information. If you add your YouTube channel by its link, the public information of that channel: channel name, picture, subscriber and view counts, and its recent videos with their titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails and view, like and comment counts. If you connect your channel with YouTube, we also read your unlisted and private videos, and you can let Garren upload videos for you; section 12 describes this in full.
Usage information. Which features you use, your edits and styles, the credits each action used, and timestamps.
Technical information. IP address, browser and device type, and server logs that record requests and errors.
Messages. What you write to us by email or through support, and our replies.
3. How we use it
- To provide the Service: analysing styles, editing your videos, applying chat changes, writing YouTube packages and post copy, generating thumbnails and storing your projects.
- To bill you, count the credits you use and keep invoices.
- To keep the Service safe, prevent abuse and fraud, and fix errors.
- To improve the Service with aggregated statistics, for example how long edits take.
- To send you emails about your account, your edits and billing, and, if you sign up for them, product news, which you can stop at any time with the unsubscribe link.
- To answer your messages.
We do not use your content to train AI models.
4. How AI processing works
To edit a video, the Service sends parts of your content to specialised providers: audio for transcription, transcripts and text for planning the cut, the graphics, the YouTube texts and the post copy, still frames for checking the graphics in your edit, and selected frames plus your example thumbnails for generating thumbnails. These providers process the content on our behalf to return results to us. Results are generated automatically and can contain mistakes, so review them before you publish.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for that:
- Hosting and rendering: Hetzner.
- File storage and content delivery: Cloudflare.
- AI models: Anthropic (editing decisions, graphics plans, quality checks, YouTube texts and post copy) and OpenAI (thumbnail images).
- Transcription, music and sound effects: ElevenLabs.
- Login and database: Supabase.
- Payments: Whop, our payment partner and the merchant of record for your purchases, which processes your payment details under its own privacy policy.
- Google: when you sign in with Google or connect YouTube, we exchange information with Google as described in section 12.
- Email delivery: our email service provider, for account and service emails.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or to a successor if our business is merged or sold, in which case this policy continues to apply. We never sell your information.
6. How long we keep information
- Footage you upload and the files of a project (b-roll you add to a video and, on Creator and Pro, the timeline and captions of every version, so a project can be opened in other editing software): kept after your last change to the video for 3 days on the free video, 14 days on Starter, 30 days on Creator and 90 days on Pro. Uploads you never used in a video are deleted after 7 days (2 days on the free plan).
- Working copies and caches on our servers: deleted within 7 days after your last change to a video; what an edit that failed left behind, within hours.
- Reference videos: deleted right after the style analysis; we keep the analysis results and a few still frames with your style.
- Finished videos (the current version with its captions, timeline, other frames, thumbnails, YouTube package and post copy): kept as long as you are on a plan; the free video for 30 days after your last change. An older version you replaced is kept for 1 day on the free video, 7 days on Starter, 14 days on Creator and 30 days on Pro.
- When a paid plan ends: your videos are kept for 30 days after Starter, 60 days after Creator and 90 days after Pro, so you can come back or download them, and are then deleted. Your styles, their b-roll and your own music stay for 12 months after the plan ended.
- Transcripts: kept as long as the footage they belong to.
- Deleted files: when you delete something, or when its time is up, it disappears from the app at once and is removed from our storage within 7 days.
- Account and usage information: kept while your account exists and deleted within 30 days after you delete it.
- Billing records: kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Server logs: kept for up to 30 days.
- Google and YouTube data: your channel data is refreshed when you open it in Garren and deleted if it has not been refreshed for 30 days. When you disconnect YouTube or delete your account, we revoke our access at Google and delete the YouTube data right away. Section 12 has the details.
7. Your choices
- You can delete projects, styles and your account in the app at any time.
- To get a copy of your information, to correct it or to have it deleted, write to hello@garren.si from the email address of your account.
- You can stop product news emails at any time with the unsubscribe link.
8. People in your videos
If your footage shows or records other people, you are responsible for having their permission. We process their images and voices only to provide the Service to you, and we delete them together with your content.
9. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, links to your media that expire, separated storage per account, and regular updates of our systems. No system is completely secure; if a security incident affects your information, we will tell you.
10. Children
The Service is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. If you believe a child has given us information, write to hello@garren.si and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
12. Google sign-in and YouTube
Garren uses YouTube API Services. When you connect your YouTube channel you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's Privacy Policy applies to how Google handles your information.
What we receive from Google.
- Sign in with Google: the name, email address and account ID of your Google account. We use them only to create your Garren account and sign you in.
- Connect YouTube, reading your channel: your channel's name, handle, picture, description and subscriber, view and video counts; your videos with their titles, descriptions, tags, categories, thumbnails, length, publish date, privacy setting and view, like and comment counts. This includes unlisted and private videos, so you see your whole channel in Garren.
- Connect YouTube, uploading: Garren can upload a video to your channel and set its thumbnail. It only does so when you press Upload in Garren, with the title, description, tags, thumbnail and visibility you saw and confirmed. Garren never deletes or changes videos on your channel and never posts anything else.
How we use it. Only for the features you see in Garren: to show your channel and its statistics on the Channel page, to learn how your channel writes titles, descriptions and tags so that the YouTube package of each new video matches it, to suggest your own videos as style references and your thumbnails as examples for new thumbnails, and to upload finished videos when you ask. To learn your title style, your videos' titles, descriptions and tags are processed by our AI model provider (section 5) on our behalf.
What we never do with it. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, share it with anyone except as described here, or use it to train AI models. No person at Garren looks at it unless you ask us for help with your account, or the law or the security of the Service requires it.
Limited Use. Garren's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Storage and security. Garren stores the access Google grants it encrypted, and only on our servers. Your channel data is refreshed when you open it in Garren and deleted if it has not been refreshed for 30 days.
Removing our access.
- In Garren: Settings → YouTube → Disconnect. We revoke our access at Google at once and delete your channel's YouTube data.
- At Google: open your Google account's security settings and remove Garren. We delete the YouTube data we stored at the latest 30 days later.
- Deleting your Garren account revokes our access at Google and deletes all Google and YouTube data right away. Videos you uploaded to YouTube stay on YouTube; you can delete them in YouTube Studio.
